Race Day: 15 January 1927
The 1927 Australian Grand Prix in Goulburn was held as part of a broader speed carnival that combined car and motorcycle racing. The programme was promoted by Country Speedways Ltd and began at 2.30 pm, reflecting the mixed format style of motorsport meetings common in the era.
Because of weather and track conditions, the car race format was adapted so that only two competitors raced at a time. The result was a sequence of heats followed by a final to decide the winner.

The wider programme
Motorcycles were an integral part of the day’s programme. The meeting also included the Goulburn Motorcycle Handicap, the International Motorcycle Derby, a motorcycle match race and even a Draught Horse Derby, a reminder of how broad and entertaining race meetings of the period could be.
